Zulassung (German registration)

A  Zulassungsbescheinigung is a German registration. A Zulassung often contains more information than any other European registration, which is the reason why it it frequently used by the international car industry when exporting a Dutch car.

Why a Zulassung (German registration)?

A zulassung is used to speed up the BPM refund proces. When you export your Dutch vehicle to another EU-country, it is possible to recover the BPM of the vehicle. If you apply for a Zulassung, you are not dependent on the buyer until he provides you with a foreign registration from the country of destination. This unburdens the seller and buyer of many administrative actions.

Conditions:

To obtain a Zulassung, the Dutch registration must comply to the following demands:

  • The original registration card or part IA (of the old registration certificate) is present.
  • The original registration part II (proof of export by the RDW).
  • The European Type of Approval (listed under the letter K on the registration certificate) or the original COC must be present with the vehicle.
  • The vehicle has a valid APK: at least 5 days from the moment that all original documents have been delivered to Cargo.
  • For petrol and petrol-hybrid cars between 3 and 4 years old, an original APK report must be present with the car. These vehicles must therefore be inspected (because of German regulations) after their third year.

Exceptions:

  • For new vehicles an original invoice + an original COC must be provided.
  • Unfortunately, a Zulassung (German registration) is not an option for vehicles with Gas installations.
